What StarterMotors is

StarterMotors is an information and marketplace platform for first-time car buyers in the UK. We provide guides, tools, and a marketplace where private sellers and dealers can list vehicles. We are not a car dealer, broker, or financial adviser.

Our content is for guidance only

All guides, cost estimates, insurance calculations, and advice on this site are for general information purposes only. They do not constitute financial, legal, or professional advice. Always get personalised quotes and advice before making a purchase decision.

Cost estimates from our calculator are approximate. Actual insurance premiums, running costs and fuel prices will vary. We are not responsible for decisions made based on estimates from this site.

Listings

StarterMotors does not own, inspect, or verify the cars listed on our marketplace. Listings are submitted by third-party sellers. We are not party to any transaction between buyer and seller.

You should always:

• Run an HPI check before purchasing any vehicle
• View the vehicle in person before purchasing
• Verify the seller's identity
• Never transfer money before seeing the vehicle and confirming it matches the listing

StarterMotors accepts no liability for the accuracy of listings or for any loss arising from a transaction between users of the platform.

Listing rules — sellers

By submitting a listing you confirm that:

• You are the legal owner of the vehicle or authorised to sell it
• The information in your listing is accurate and not misleading
• The vehicle has no known serious defects that are not disclosed
• You will not list the same vehicle on multiple accounts simultaneously
• You will remove the listing promptly once the vehicle is sold

We reserve the right to remove any listing that we believe to be fraudulent, misleading, or in breach of these terms without notice.

Prohibited use

You must not use StarterMotors to:

• List vehicles you do not own or are not authorised to sell
• Misrepresent a vehicle's condition, history, or specification
• Scrape, copy, or reproduce our content without permission
• Attempt to hack, overload, or disrupt our systems
• Submit false enquiries or contact details

Third-party links

Our site contains links to third-party websites including insurance comparison tools, GOV.UK services, and affiliate partners. We are not responsible for the content or practices of those sites. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you visit them.

Intellectual property

All content on StarterMotors — guides, tools, design, copy, and code — is owned by StarterMotors unless otherwise stated. You may not reproduce or republish our content without written permission.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, StarterMotors is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site, including losses arising from reliance on our guides or estimates, or from transactions conducted through our marketplace.
